Significant improvement on earlier versions.
Easy to get USB comms to work.
The replacement of Boolean function by the macro was an unfortunate surprise.
Issue - DivX Plus free software version 8 for Windows, if install upgraded/updated an existing DivX 7 installation, then part of previous DivX version (7) was remained (incomplete partial upgrade/update, only part of older version was removed by the newer installer).
Results - This caused Software Informer to see the previous version, and report newer version available, even though I had newest version already installed.
Symptoms - DivX folder under the Start Menu with a few remnant icons (DivX Converter (7), & related links & help files); the newest version is DivX Plus (not DivX name only) and Start Menu entries are under a DivX Plus folder name. DivX 7... uninstall entries remained in the Windows Control Panel: Add/Remove Programs, or Programs and Features: DivX Converter (7...), DivX Player (7....).
Resolution - I verified the newest version of DivX was installed, and then uninstalled the remnants of the previous version. I uninstalled entries remaining in the Windows Control Panels: Add/Remove Programs, or Programs and Features: DivX Converter (7...), and DivX Player (7....). This left the newest DivX (Plus 8...) installed OK; Software Informer then did not see the previous older version.
I do not know where best to post this info or how. Wiki, Forum? It may need editing. It is very useful for anyone who has run in to this issue.
It may be recommended that when installing a newer version of this software, especially with a major version change, to 1st uninstall the older version. However, this would tend to eliminate upgrade, to help preserve previous setttings.
